Fun in the Sun and a Lot More
When you stay with us, you’ll feel like you’ve escaped from reality, but in case you need a reality check while you’re here, there are a lot of fun things to do close by.
Walk the Beach
A one-mile walkway along the ocean, newly paved and landscaped, offers a lovely stroll to the Deerfield Beach Pier. Or, you might chose to walk to the pier along the beach and feel the warm sand between your toes.
Shopping & Dining in Deerfield Beach
Walk out to the Pier, or meander casually through town and enjoy shopping and great restaurants. Choose an ocean view table at JB’s or have a burger at Flanigan’s. For authentic south Florida seafood try the phenomenal Whales Rib, featured on The Food Channel’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The Farmer’s Table in Boca Raton specializes in delicious sustainable farm-to-table American fare and don’t forget dessert at Kilwin’s.
Boca Raton is 10 minutes away and offers upscale shopping and some of the finest dining in South Florida. Delray Beach is a 20-minute drive north and is home to what the locals call "The Avenue", with great restaurants, festivals and active night life. Fort Lauderdale and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea are 20 minutes south.
There are plenty of places close by where you can book ocean sport activities such as parasailing, surfing, skimboarding, scuba diving, deep sea fishing and cruises. Just west of the Deerfield Pier is Island Watersports, where equipment can be rented or excursions scheduled (mopeds too!). They will even deliver your rented equipment to you. Since this is Florida, you can count on great golf with plenty of high quality golf courses within a 15 minute’s drive. The public course, Deer Creek, is on par with any country club or get serious and experience the PGA National, Crandon Park, Doral or Herron Bay.
If you can get them away from the beach, there are a number of activities and parks for the kids, not to mention multiple fairs and festivals that happen up and down the coast throughout the year. The kids will love Splash Adventure at Quiet Waters Park, and adults can relax and mingle in the shade. Rapids Water Park in nearby West Palm Beach is another option for kids (and adults) who love the thrill of water slides. Also located in West Palm Beach is Lion Country Safari, where you and your family can drive through a real nature park stocked with African safari animals that can literally walk right up to your car! While there, don’t miss the opportunity to hand feed the giraffes and parrots. Visit Gumbo Limbo Nature Center down the street. They just might have some turtles there for rehabilitation and other fun kids’ stuff: www.gumbolimbo.org/gumbo-limbo-kids
Sea Turtle Habitat
We think the best thing for kids is something that happens right on our very own beach. From late spring to early fall, your family can witness the hatching and migration of sea turtles. This is an event that will build memories you and your family can share for a lifetime.
